I could not wait to get started on selecting the design details for our wedding day once we were engaged! I always dreamed of a beautiful outdoor setting with a big white tent and it was the perfect canvas to create our dream day. Cam really let the three of us take the lead on designing the decor and we had the greatest time dreaming up every piece. I absolutely loved planning our wedding together with my parents. It’s hard to remember how we even came up with the things we created, but I think it all started by collecting wildflowers and weeds on the side of the road! That pretty much set us off running.

I knew I would keep my color palette relatively neutral with champagne bridesmaid dresses, baskets and rattan details, and a bit of olive green thrown around. It all came together bit by bit as we found fun treasures at Home Goods or Ikea or a new idea would pop up and we would figure out how to make it. It was a truly collaborative process with my mom and dad as we filled the venue with special touches and creations. Gluing and arranging dried flowers, figuring out how to do calligraphy and draw on big wood signs, mapping out taxidermy and wallpapering with palm leaf wallpaper… it was one of the best parts of it all. Everything was made with love. Keep reading for each part of the wedding decor broken down and all of the beautiful photos filtered through!

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place in the front yard of the Springton Manor Farm property. We knew that the outdoor ceremony setting would speak for itself under the gorgeous linden tree. But we also knew that the heat and sunshine would be pretty tough for our guests to sit beneath. The design details of the ceremony were centered around making everyone as comfortable as possible. We provided program fans with gold tassels and white paper parasols for everyone to keep shaded and cool. I loved seeing all of the parasols popped open all over the field as my dad and I walked down the aisle. We also provided custom face masks that said ‘Cam + JoJo | Quarantined for Life’ for everyone to use for the duration of the wedding.

Our florist, Krista, from Heritage Gatherings created the most beautiful ground arch of dried florals, wildflowers, and foraged branches. The aisle was flanked with two huge baskets of fluffy pampas grass and the staircase from the house was covered in beautiful greens and lanterns. My dad built a bamboo pulpit for my Nanny to read from Colossians and a bamboo table for the unity candle ceremony that accented the front of the ceremony. (Everything got just a little soaked in the downpour right before the ceremony, but it still looked beautiful haha)

Cocktail Hour

At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests were encouraged to proceed to the back lawn for cocktail hour. They were met with delicious appetizers from our caterer, Queen of Hearts Catering, and of course our signature cocktails. We served Cam’s Gin & Tonics with a twist of Rhubarb and a Hemingway; a grapefruit and rum cocktail. Upon entering the backyard, guests were also greeted with a nice surprise of two adorable llamas to take selfies with and pet from Buck Hollow Llama Farm. They were sooo soft and such beautiful animals.

Dried floral arrangements were dispersed throughout the venue’s barrel cocktail tables and hanging basket lamps and tassel garlands swayed in the breeze near the bar. Guests selected their escort cards, lettered by Gia Boyd Design, from a large pegboard display with ‘Your Table Awaits’ placed among dried flowers and baskets. Our guests entered the reception through a bamboo curtain rod with cheesecloth drapes and greenery cascading down surrounded by dried flower arrangements.

The Wedding Reception

I could not wait for guests to enter the reception tent to see everything we had created. This is where the bulk of our design efforts were placed. You couldn’t miss the bamboo & basket lamp structure over the sweetheart table with a dim-able light switch installed and created by my dad and the gorgeous pampas grass surrounding each side. Funny enough, my parents neighbors have a ton of invasive bamboo, so we could use as much as we wanted to build structures for the wedding. It came in real handy! The sweetheart table just got more and more beautiful throughout the night as the sun went down and it made me feel like we were in one of my favorite places, Tulum, Mexico.

One of our first ideas was to have trees running up the wood poles of the tent and we made it happen in the final hour with 4 beautiful birch trees from a nearby nursery. I loved having them on either side of our first dance to La Vie En Rose, performed by our incredible band Back2Life from BVTLive. It really completed the look of the tent and made such a statement. We added tiny up-lights from Amazon to ensure they looked beautiful and glowed all night long.

I was also immediately settled on the dinner table decor and design when we started planning. We ran cheesecloth runners down the wood farm tables with two heights of clear glass vases of flickering candles and olive branches were dispersed between. Each table was named after a band that Cam and I have seen together in concert, with calligraphy by yours truly and dried hydrangeas pressed between the gold frames. Each guest received our custom matchbooks as a favor and could also leave with a plant-able menu, which apparently grows wildflowers once planted.

Our biggest surprise of the night was the reception bar taxidermy wall and lounge. My mom had this idea from the beginning and it evolved from a wood palette wall to a gorgeously wall-papered plywood structure surrounding beautiful cream lounge furniture, rented from Lilac & Lace. It was so stunning and was completed by flickering votives as the sun went down. I loved spying different groups socializing around the taxidermy and I can’t get over the stunning photos too. The tent at Springton Manor Farm was just the most beautiful backdrop for our crazy ideas.

Our wedding was nothing short of a dream day and every detail came together so beautifully. At the end of the day, the decor and weather and coordination of all of the details was minuscule in comparison to the importance of our intimate vows and getting to marry my best friend. Our team of vendors and coordinators were phenomenal and I would highly recommend each one of these wedding professionals:
