This post doesn’t need too much explanation. Today I am sharing the 5 pieces that I need stocked in my closet at all times. A few things, I truly believe I will own for years into the future. Durable, versatile, and timeless styles ahead! For all you people who have been “tidying up” with Marie Kondo or are still to begin the process, these pieces spark joy and they are always spared in my closet purges. Perhaps these 5 staples should stay put in your closet too or this blog post will serve as the final nudge to invest in that timeless item you’ve been eyeing up. Let’s take a peek into my closet:

1. Madewell Jean Jacket

I love this jacket. I think it might be the perfect jean jacket. The wash is such a classic jean color that I think it’s truly a timeless piece. I wear it with black jeans, matching jeans, over dresses, over jumpsuits, over sweaters in the fall. It’s so versatile and well made. I can see myself owning this for literal decades. There are no negative signs of wear after 3 years of owning it and it has only become softer after years of use. It has traveled with me to Arizona, Tulum, Florida, Boston. This is a total knockout piece.

2. L.L. Bean Wicked Good Moccasin Slippers

I have determined that these slippers will last you two solid winters and then you will need to buy new ones. BUT. I am on pair #3 and I will continue to buy them every 2 years to infinity. They are so cozy and I wear them every single night of the winter. The only reason I replace them is because they start to get dirty from wearing them so often (outside, inside, taking the trash out, taking the dogs out) and the fur inside starts to flatten and not be as fluffy. Bean slippers, I just love ya!

3. Cream Fisherman Crew Neck Sweater

This staple is not brand specific but I think everyone, no matter your style, could use a chunky cable knit fisherman sweater. They can pass as preppy, boho, grunge, or all-American classic. Regardless of styling them to wear out, they are the perfect piece to throw on with leggings and big snuggly socks in the winter after work. I own one from J.Crew and a few vintage ones that I’ve picked up along the way.

4. Levis Wedgie Fit Jeans

Maybe this isn’t the fit for you, but the time is now to invest in any style of Levis jeans. I personally own the Wedgie Fit jeans and love the shape, but I have heard wonders of the classic Levis 501s. They are durable and will be a timeless classic that your kids will want to dig out of the attic when you’re 50. The quality is long lasting and for this closet staple, you will really own the same pair for decades. No replacement necessary.

5. Dolce Vita Heeled Leather Black Booties

I always need a pair of black heeled booties to get me through the fall and winter. This is the pair I am sporting this season. And I have actually owned a few pairs of Dolce Vita black booties prior to these. They dress up any work outfit, go great with jeans, and keep your toesies warm in the winter with a dress and tights to give you some height. I always need a pair in my closet.

My goal during the month of February is definitely to minimize my spending and my current closet. Things are rapidly heading out the door (big fan of Poshmark over here), but these are the tried and true items I feel great about owning and spending a few more pennies on.

xoxo,

jojo
